*Note: This page is semi-regularly edited to adjust for continual enhancements to the site

Quick Start:

The black bar at the top of the page (logged in users only) contains links for personalizing your experience on the site, including:

  • Personal profile
  • Contacts list
  • Private messages
  • Dashboard - where you have a lot of control over what information you can view at once
  • Settings - your account information where you can also change your email notificaton preferences.

The white bar below the Griffin Groups logo contains tabbed menus for exploring the entire site. For example, click the "Groups" tab to see a list of all the groups accessible to you on the site. Accessibility to groups and content can vary by member, depending on how their contacts and groups set accessibility levels. For example, private groups are visible only to the member who created them and other logged in members they invite. You can search all of Griffin Groups content that is accessible to you by using the search box on the right side of the site menu.

The button menu on the right sidebar of each group is useful for finding and adding content to groups. For example the "Pages" button in this group leads to documents describing how to use this site. You can create your own groups and begin writing, uploading, and sharing documents, photos, embedded videos, and more! Invite members to your group and give them permission to help you edit your content.

Use case for conservation: Each collaboration or partnership (e.g., LCC, JV) will likely have a primary group, with related groups (e.g., working groups) linked either through hyperlinks in widgets or the Related Group link on the side bar of group profiles. Links to related groups in the group side bar are controlled by the group admin(s). Any member of Griffin Groups can join 1 or more open groups, request membership to closed groups, and start their own groups. For example, you may want to start a public or private group for project coordination or to organize information for your own conservation purposes and allow others to assist you.

    Thanks Ed! That works great.

You can upload the file to the site and then paste the URL to that file within the event description. For example, see this event.

You can also select text while editing the event, right click on it or click the link button, and insert the URL into the selected text. I've found that it is also helpul to bold the hyperlink so that it is easier to notice on the page.

Hello. I was curious if anyone knew if it is possible to attach a document to a calendar item? I would like to add the guidance for a proposal to the due date on the calendar.

Hi! You can add group members as admins by clicking on the bottom right corner of their avatar in the list of group members and then selecting "Add group admin".

I will add this information to this page: https://griffingroups.com/pages/view/565/how-to-create-a-group

Hi there,  I've recently started a group and I would like to share the administration abilities with another member. Is it possible to have 2 group administrators?

  • GGadmin 13 August 2013 @ 4:20pm

Sorry about that. I have added that email domain to the whitelist, so that emails ending in @NRCan-RNCan.gc.ca are no longer blocked by the spam filter system.

If he still has problems, please let us know using the feedback tab on the left side of any page. If anyone else runs into similar issues, please use the feedback tab or send an email to feedback[at]griffingroups.com

I recently started a group, and one of the people I invited to join was unable to do so--he received an error message indicating access was denied because of a problem with his email address, i.e., "spam issues." He works for the Canadian Forest Service, and his address is:

I'd really appreciate your help in resolving this matter. Thanks!
